“…PGA (Products of the Golden Age) was born out of a common love and respect for hip-hop culture. BlesInfinite, Nick FuriouStylz, and Shawn Keys have had their fingerprints all over Albuquerque hip-hop since the late ‘90s. After years of friendship, various musical partnerships and watching each other evolve as artists, a day at the studio sealed their fate and PGA was officially established in 2014. Since then, they’ve continued to hone their craft and zero in on PGA’s sound. Rather than the homogenous nature of current rap music, PGA offers a type of hip-hop that was present at its origin, when lyrics were crucial.”
“PGA is a return to a more genuine era. Ready to go full court for Hip Hop—Kareem Abdul Jabbar style with the short shorts?! Products of the Golden Age is a hip hop hook shot—A throwback aesthetic as effective as ever.”
“We have tailored something very special with energy and power behind it. We know a lot about hip-hop because we grew up in it, and we live it every day. We are part of it. We aim to serve as ambassadors.”
~Nick FuriouStylz
“Our music is designed to bring the listener back to a time when hip-hop was all about having fun, while at the same time delivering a poignant, positive, and political message.”
~Blesinfinite
“I want our music to make you think. I want it to inspire the younger generation to use their voice and to stand up for what they believe in.”
~Shawn Keys
BIO
Albuquerque, New Mexico-based hip-hop collective, PGA (Products of the Golden Age), was born out of a common love and respect for hip-hop culture. BlesInfinite, Nick FuriouStylz, and Shawn Keys have had their fingerprints all over Albuquerque hip-hop since the late ‘90s, when they helped unify the scene. Not the songs sold, but the soul saved. The students of a professed lineage. They’re the “show ‘n prove” of the old school, with the energy of the new.
“Following this magical day in the studio, the boys and I got up week in and week out, until we had recorded a 13 track, full-length album,” BlesInfinite explains. “I, personally, had no intention of starting a new project, but the power of our collaboration was undeniably real—If the music unites organically, then the project must be destiny.”
The name ‘Products of the Golden Age’ means something. There’s hommage embedded in it. More than respect for the 5 elements and inumerable ancestors of Hip Hop culture, they are the product.
From Furioustylz’s rough, old-school swagger to BlesInfinite’s smooth, low tone storytelling and Shawn Keys’ clean yet fierce delivery, PGA puts their versatile vocal range on display.
“All three emcees have their own distinct and unique individual styles,” BlesInfinite says. “Our rapid-fire overdub and line finishing techniques could be paralleled to groups such as Jurassic 5 or Souls of Mischief. This constant switching of style and voice gives the listener a very interesting, ever changing and evolving sound science.”
